Purpose:
- The equipment maintenance manager directs and manages all maintenance activities including: Total preventive maintenance, Installation, upkeep, and managing breakdowns of mechanical, electrical, and robotic equipment and plant including mechanical systems and other structures.
- Effectively managing and reporting on budget, cost, and personnel.
- The equipment maintenance manager is part of the management team that leads the plant in delivering 100% customer satisfaction and strives to achieve plant KPI and business goals.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Essential Duties:
- Initiate, implement, and manage the plant maintenance program based on best practices in the automotive manufacturing industry
- Ensure that the facility operates in accordance with any health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures to ensure the safety and wellbeing of staff and visitors
- Effectively delegate any maintenance issues to be resolved on each shift and small projects to the right skills in the team
- Schedule both internal and external work(s) maximizing planned downtime and reducing unplanned downtime
- Manage, coach, and develop a high performing Maintenance team that meets agreed objectives, and which delivers best practice results, added value, and continuous improvements
- Set department objectives/KPIs and review and assess the ongoing performance of direct reports
- Coordinates activities of maintenance technicians fabricating or modifying machines, tools, or equipment to manufacture new products or improve existing products
- Directs maintenance activities on utility systems to provide a continuous supply of heat, electric power, gas, or air required for operations
- Develops preventive maintenance program in conjunction with engineering and maintenance staff.
- Reviews production, quality control and maintenance reports and statistics to plan and modify maintenance activities
- Plans, develops, and implements new methods and procedures designed to improve operations, minimize operating costs and effect greater utilization of labor and materials.
- Reviews new product plans and discusses equipment needs and modifications with Manufacturing Engineers
- Contribute to the creation and implementation of best practice maintenance vision, strategy, policies, processes, and procedures to aid and improve operational performance
- Confers with management, engineering, and quality control personnel to resolve maintenance problems and recommend measures to improve operations and conditions of machines and equipment
- Prepares department budget and monitors expenditure of funds in the budget.
- Develop a Total Preventative Maintenance (TPM) schedule, including machine overhaul, ensure full preventative and predictive maintenance is carried out, and lead the team to deliver effective MTTR and MTBF
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Education / Skill / Experience Requirements:
Required Skills & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree OR ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum 5 years of supervisory or management experience (with a Bachelor's degree, 10 without a degree).
- Automotive assembly/manufacturing environment experience
- Industrial Electrical and PLC (Allen Bradley) troubleshooting.
- Able to work well with all levels of the organization.
- Well organized with proven decision-making abilities.
