Electrical Estimator - Richmond, VA - On-site

Overview

A leading electrical contracting firm is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Electrical Estimator to join their team. The Electrical Estimator will be responsible for preparing cost estimates for various electrical construction projects, writing proposals, and acting as the primary point-of-contact with clients. The ideal candidate will have strong computer skills, a deep understanding of project management and construction estimating software, and comprehensive knowledge of commercial or industrial building codes and related systems/controls.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare cost estimates for electrical construction projects up to $50M using construction plans and specifications
  • Write proposals that accurately capture the scope of work and associated costs
  • Lead the Proposal Review Process to ensure management has the appropriate documentation
  • Maintain project documentation and tracking in line with company standards throughout the pre-construction phase
  • Collaborate with the Project Team to establish accurate budgets and buyouts based on estimates
  • Coordinate the total estimating effort for specific bids/projects
  • Negotiate with vendors to ensure the quality and lowest cost on bid items
  • Provide support to other departments as needed, including preparing estimates in other disciplines and assisting Project Managers with start-up and change-order costs

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of experience in estimating, cost control, and/or engineering within the commercial or industrial electrical construction industry
  • 3+years Data Center experience is required
  • Experience with estimating software and change order/new project pricing
  • Proficient in project management and construction estimating software
  • Ability to interpret computerized cost data, read blueprints, and understand project specifications
  • Working knowledge of commercial or industrial building codes and related systems/controls
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to pass pre-employment background checks and motor vehicle record checks

Day-to-Day

  • Conducting detailed takeoffs of the scope of work
  • Ensuring project documentation and tracking meet company standards
  • Collaborating with the Project Team to establish accurate budgets and buyouts
  • Serving as the primary point-of-contact with clients
  • Negotiating with vendors to ensure quality and the best cost on bid items
  • Supporting other department personnel as needed
