National Grid is hiring a Associate Specialist, Stakeholder Engagement for Massachusetts. This is a Hybrid Role - Must live within a commutable distance to one of our locations. Job Purpose Our team of talented public engagement professionals are responsible for meeting the outreach and education needs of National Grid's gas and electric complex capital infrastructure improvement projects.
As part of multiple project teams, you'll be responsible for leading public engagement campaigns for a multimillion-dollar portfolio of complex construction projects. You'll represent National Grid as the subject matter expert for stakeholder relations for these projects. You will create and manage outreach and marketing collateral and develop project messaging so that technical information is easily understood by the layperson. You'll plan and execute project-related events, including open houses, site tours and public meetings. You'll build and maintain long-term professional relationships with internal stakeholders.
Key Accountabilities - Represent the Company as the subject matter expert for stakeholder and community relations for complex construction projects
- Create and manage the outreach and marketing collateral needed for the educational needs of a variety of audiences supporting the portfolio of complex capital projects
- Develop and deliver strategic project messaging, anticipating needs of communities, and boiling technical information down to messaging that is easily understood by the public
- Plan and execute project-related events, including open houses and public statement hearings, to support the delivery, feedback and engagement needs of complex projects
- Work with internal and external stakeholders throughout planning, permitting, construction, and post-construction phases of projects to proactively solve issues around project impacts, including noise, traffic, visual, recreation, etc.
- Build and maintain long-term professional relationships with internal stakeholders (i.e., VPs, Directions, Managers, Engineering, Legal, Environmental, Project Management, and Customer and Community) within a defined geographic footprint in support of complex capital Projects to ensure community and municipal relationship management is embedded into National Grid's standard practice
Qualifications - Bachelor's degree preferred in Business, Communications, Political Science, Environmental Science, or other related field
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking
- Proficient in relevant software, including Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Strong time management skills, the ability to manage multiple projects and competing deadlines
- Highly motivated with ability to take an assignment and progress independently
- Excels in an inclusive, flexible work environment, interacting with a diverse range of stakeholders across the New England portfolio (Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont)
- Knowledge and Experience:
- Natural problem-solver working within a team to plan and execute for outreach and education, and to respond to stakeholder questions
- Manage and measure the execution of outreach plans with internal stakeholders across disciplines (e.g., Project Management, Corporate Affairs, Environmental, etc.)
- Communicate complex engineering, environmental, construction, and regulatory information
- Develop strategic, informative, professional letters and collateral
- Strong relationship-builder
- Available for evening meetings and presentations
- Valid driver's license required
- Frequent travel required, including off-hours, to projects across the New England region
More Information Salary - $69,000 - $81,000
This position has a career path which provides for advancement opportunities within and across bands as you develop and evolve in the position; gaining experience, expertise and acquiring and applying technical skills.
