Position Title: Assistant Tool Maker
Wage: $20.75-$22/hour
Shift: AM, PM
Hours: 00:00am-12:00pm, 12:00pm-00:00am
QPS Employment Group is hiring an Assistant Tool Maker for a company in Madison, WI. Work as a member of a team to assist with troubleshooting problems, performing tool maintenance, fabricating tooling, and modifying tools and related components to design specifications while optimizing cost and delivery. This is a contract to hire role.
Assistant Tool Maker Responsibilities include but are not limited to: - Assist with the fabrication, modification, maintenance, and repair of tools and mechanical components by using CNC mills, mills, lathes, drills, grinders, and other shop equipment
- Perform bench work such as sanding and tool assembly
- Assist in tool inspections to ensure proper tool rebuilds/repairs and reduce development costs of new tools
- Participate as a team member to improve work practices and methods
- Understand and comply with all ISO QSP's and work instructions related to job responsibilities
- Assists in Tool Vault and Sample Lab as required
- Work in any department of the company as required
- Assist all departments by providing machine shop support
- Troubleshoot production problems and provide solutions
- Perform work to the tooling schedule and adjust as required to meet internal and external customer deadlines
Assistant Tool Maker Requirements: - Certificate in Machine Tool Operations or related field and 1 year experience in manufacturing environment; or equivalent machine tool experience in tool fabrication, maintenance, or machine shop
- Ability to read, write, and speak English to meet training, safety, and quality requirements.
- Working knowledge on the safe and effective use of the following machine shop equipment: CAD/CAM, CNC mills, EDM’s, milling machines, manual lathes, and drill presses
- Must be able to read blueprints
- Must be able to apply shop math to build tools.
- Ability to interact well with others
- Self-starter with the ability to try new methods to improve productivity
- Strong troubleshooting skills
